How I finally made my own rules at 55!

When I was in my early 50’s I felt frumpy.  Menopause changes you, that’s a fact!

Weight gain in the middle was tough to deal with.  I was seeing the changes in my weight and had that feeling that I needed to start “dressing my age”.  

So yeah, I did Jazzercise.  And I was just about to succumb to the fact that this is just the way it’s going to be.

But wait……...why?  The minute I asked myself this question, my life changed.

You feel good, right?  You don’t feel old! Then what does age have to do with it?

That’s when I started running.  I was 55 years old and had never run long distance in my life, certainly nothing over one mile!

But I was committed. I signed up for a half marathon and immediately started running around the neighborhood. Couldn’t make it around the block the first day but I kept going.

Each day...a bit more. Guess what?  I finished the half marathon in 2 hrs and 45 minutes - 13.1 miles . It felt amazing to finish and I lost the weight I thought I would have for life.
